Thoughts of hope

After reading Smoochie's post, I again reflected on my own moments of heartache some 37 years ago. A young man that I loved very much screamed his last words to me as he left "Pat, I will always love you and don't ever forget it". I always thought he would come back safely from Vietnam and we would marry, but destiny had something different. We always remember where we were when John Kennedy was killed or the Twin Towers fell, but this is a day that I know minute for minute, as my dad walked into my apt and said those dreaded words that I couldn't accept. My first love was coming home, but not the way it was supposed to be. I am fortunate to have a husband who totally understands the feelings I have and allows me to keep his memory alive by putting flowers on his grave on his birthday and other memorial days. My friend's family treat me as a family member.

So at night, I always remember our soldiers who so freely give of themselves and I want to copy smoochie's plan of a prayer box, so that this war can end soon and bring your husbands, sons, fathers, uncles, wives, daughters, mothers, aunts and friends home safely. May an army of angels watch over them.

My new apartment

Well I have finished unpacking and the garbage

collector must have made overtime picking up

the "1000" boxes I put out. My kitchen now

looks like a watermelon patch. Did I ever tell

you how much I like watermelons? I think it's

the red that I like and the energy it gives me.

If any of you have any decorating tips, they

would greatly appreciated. The melons are only

temporary until I can "afford" to redecorate.

My new home

Well I am home Desi---and only lost one thing in the move, but it was a big thing. My computer armoire broke---$500 down the drain, so had to get a cheap one. I tried to use smoochie's term and voluntold Al to fix it but he said no way. It was actually my fault because he told me not put any boxes on it and did I listen----no, so now I have to pay the piper.

My great friend Carol, came and helped me and Thank you soooo much. I cried when I said my goodbyes, but she will come and visit. Thought I would not be able to do anything and totally forgot about my laptop---duh!

Will take pics when I finish unpacking---still have what seems like 100 boxes, but I unpacked over 60 boxes, so I really don't have a lot left---mostly crafting items which I will work on tomorrow. I have some squash books to help my niece with, then make some candy wrappers for her sister, so have plenty to keep me busy. We are going to her son and daughter's birthday party at the Children's musuem in New Orleans on Sunday and that should be fun.
Well going to have some ice cream and then off to bed soon. See you all later.

Moving

Well the day has arrived. I am so exhausted from packing. I would say "Look what the cat dragged out of bed, but I would have to "borrow" a cat to do that. The computer will be packed so it might be a while before I get back here. Just want you all to know I will thinking of you. It all seems sureal, but the excitement of opening the shop keeps me going. The new kitchen will be fun to decorate---keeping my watermelons for a while, so that it feels like home. Well toda-loo till I unpack. Hugs, Pat

Card fronts

Well I have my hands full when I move.
These are all the card fronts that I have done
since January and I have many of the embellishments
for them---just need to get them finished for our shop.
Then maybe I can "find" some free time to make some
altered stuff and some beaded collars for the candle jars we
will have in the shop. I will probably sell all my old things
because we are having one room just for that. We may be
taking a trip to Dallas to market and that should be fun.
If any of you have any great tips for us, they would surely be
welcomed. Also if any of you do wholesale, we would welcome
unique items that we could purchase from you.
Well, the shrimp scampi is calling me, and my tummy has answered.
Catch you later gator!

New found treasures

Today was a very busy day and I got so excited

I opened some boxes and found some old books

that we saved from Katrina. One is old pictures

of roses, Greek Art, Chinese Art, and a really

thick book of art. These are some of the pics and

I can't wait to do something with them. Not sure

if I will use the originals or photo copy them.

There was also a book with loads of wine labels

and my frenzied mind has so many ideas, just hope

that stay in my head till after the move. For the 1st

time, Al asked where I got all the great wooden

boxes and I had to go duh!, you helped load them

in the car after the hurricane. But sad to say, they

may have to wait for another trip---the moving

van will be loaded and not sure I can squeeze a

spot for them. Aren't these pics just "Frantastic"?

Shabby chic table

My aunt sent this to me and I am going to sand the

edges and use it in my bathroom for now. Is it cool

or what.

Moving

Well the house is filled with boxes and I am so stressing out. I had totally forgotten what it was like to move. I think smoochie needs to send me that mac truck that hit her for her birthday. I have packed and help move people so many times, but now every one seems to be busy, so we are on our own. If any of you would like to come over, you only need some overalls, I'll supply the refreshments from that mac truck. So if you don't see me here, you know that I am swamped in unpacking. I am so ready to craft again and can't wait to unpack those things first---dishes can wait-lol.

Winner of the altered torso

And the winner is Marina, aka Mozzi. Congratulations gf, I will ship it out this week before I move. Thanks to the very special "few" of you who have visited. Hopefully my next project will draw more visitors and I will have lots of time to devote to my blog.
