Things I made for Cancer Aid

As you can see I have been really busy making things for the Cancer Aid Bingo which is in 2 weeks. I still have 2 things to finish, then next week, bake some cakes and cupcakes. I have already brought 4 boxes of things for the raffle tables and I am feeling really good about doing this. I have been doing this for 3 years now and every time the Ladies Auxillary has a Cancer Aid bingo, they know they can count on my---patting myself on the back. It's hard to be humble when you give so much and the ladies who belong to the auxillary don't really do anything, but come to the bingo. Guess that is better than not doing anything. I want to join, but Al didn't serve overseas, but I could join under my brother, but that is going to take some doing. I have to have his DD214 in order to join the VFW. I can join the Amercian Legion Auxillary, but I would prefer to belong to the group whose spouses have and are fighting overseas. As I posted earlier, I take pride in supporting the men,women,and their families and it makes my heart feel good. I was really joking about patting myself on the back. I really am a humble person, but no one is here to see me blush, so I am fine with joking about it. The ladies are so thankful and we also donated a queen size quilt that my mom started. It's a patriotic quilt and another lady finished it for me, so they will sell chances for that. My mom was a great giver and she made 85 lap quilts for the new VA retirement home in Jennings and has always given a lot for the bingos. When 911 happened,my mom sold over 2,000 pins to support our country and raised over $2,000. I have my mom's certificate of gratitude they gave her when she did this. She went to a lot of the events, so I'm not really sure she was a member or not.

Today, do a random act of kindness to someone you meet on the street or store---a smile is the best gift you can give someone. Love and hugs, Pat

God gave me a little talent, so I try to use it the way He would want me to. I don't have a car, so this is my way of volunteering and doing community service.

Remember our Fallen Heroes

Please remember those who died for our freedom and those who are still fighting. I would also like everyone to remember the forgotten part of the military and that is the wives and husbands of those fighting for us. They are the unsung heroes who keep things going while their spouses are off fighting.

I lost my first love to a war and today always bring heartache-it never goes away. He served our country and died a hero saving his platoon from further killings, but was never given the bronze star. Had he not been picking up claymores, he might still be alive today, because the sniper that shot him was killed by his platton and the gunfire set the platoon on their feet and saved them from being shot. His father received the bronze star for saving his platoon, being a captain in the US Army during WW11 and he has gone to meet his maker. May all our soldiers that died for our freedom rest in peace and Prayers for those that are fighting a war to keep terrorist out of our country. Many Blessings today to all the families of lost ones and for those fighting and their families. Amen.

Part of my doll collection

Just wanted to share some of my dolls that I have collected over the years. I already gave my granddaughter 10 of them and she has them neatly on a shelf that was made from parts of an old sofa. Will have to take pictures next time I go visit. My mom gave her a set of twins, a boy and girl and they are adorable, but my brother wanted me to bring them back after our mom died. I was not going to be the one who told my granddaughter she had to give the dolls back---for whatever reason because the dolls were given to us girls by my dad. They told her and she said okay, like the sweet angel she is, but we put a stop to it. You don't do that to a child of 6 years old.

I have others put away and will put two of the babies in the antique crib I found. Was going to paint it white, but I think that would ruin the value. I just haven't decided yet.

If you are wondering about the urn in the foreground, that is my cat Max. Since we had planned on moving into this house, Al had him cremated because I didn't want to leave him behind. I had Max for over 18 years and he was a part of our family. Please don't call the white coats, I am not the only person who does this.

Happy Pink Saturday to all who do it.

Although I don't belong to Pink Saturday, I thought I would share all the cute baby clothes I have been collecting for my daughter. No, she isn't pregnant, but if she can't have a child of her own (she's 39) they will adopt. She knows I am doing this and if it turns out she doesn't have a girl, then some lucky, needy family will get these for their baby girl.

I also found this at a thrift store and it's a very unusal lamp. I think it needs a hurricane glass globe on the top, but will have to see how it looks..It just struck my eye and I had to have it for $2.99. All in all, these little outfits cost $2.99, plus I got points for buying all of them and I am close to getting $10 off my next purchase. I also have one of her baby dresses and booties and some of my little crocheted baby things that will go great with the little yellow dress as it looks just like the one my baby picture was taken in. Sweet little Hummingbird

This is one of our regular nesters that nest each year in the Magnolia tree at my dads. Al and I both took these pictures. The first 3 he took and the last 2 I took. We could sit for hours and watch the 4 of them fight and I have 2 feeders, but they seem to like this one. People keep thinking that you must have red food for them, but that is far from the truth. All I do is make sugar water and they come. I wish we had a good pair of binoculars so we could find their nest. One fell a couple of years ago and I sent it to our Sweet Deena who collect bird nests. Well, it's mostly mockingbirds and blue Martins and their nest fall apart when you try to get to them, not to mention if you try to take one while they are nesting, they will attack you. Dads Blue Martin houses are filled  with nests this year and he would be excited to see them. We also have lots of Cardinals and Finch that visit, but there is so much for them to eat, that I don't have to have feeders for them. The grape vines and fig trees are plenty for them to eat. I tried putting peanut butter on a pine cone, but nothing came near it and there is no cat around here. Hope you enjoy seeing the pictures. Love and hugs, and have a great weekend.
