Hello all

Well I must say that I am beginning to really miss internet service and blogland. I don't come to Crowley often and it's usually only for a doctor's appt. and then back to my home in the country. Things are coming along on the inside but the outside is another long story that has been very stressful for me. In my haste, I forgot my camera, but I had a great day finding a bundle of FireKing dishes for my daughter. She has been sending me vintage embroidered things, but I am sending one of them back because I will never use it. It's a brown checked piece with Sunbonnet Sue on it and she may be able to sell it in her Etsy shop. She is listed as the Urban Eccentric if any of you are interested. I haven't been but am going to check her out today.

I hope everyone is doing well and not having bad luck like us. Dryer went out, frig burned up at the house in the country, then our bedroom window air conditioner went out---all within 3 weeks.

We had a drought for a while, then the rains came as we all wished for and it's been daily downpours---enough already.

There have been many cases of Swine flu here and everyone is so cautious about being around sick people---I for one, don't need it.

I did do a little bit of painting, but that's about as far as crafting has taken me. The room I was supposed to use was supposed to be finished second, but it has taken the back burner for now. It's painted, but we have no money for new carpet and we are storing tools and paint in it to keep the rest of the house orderly. We still have the shop to work on, but it's still filled with garage sale items that we moved from the main house, so it's cluttered again. We didn't realize how much there was and really thought we had gotten a lot sold---NOT! So hopefully we will soon have another and then whatever is left over will go.

Well I want to visit some blog friends and if I miss visiting you, please forgive me---I have so little time and I must shower first so that I am ready for my doctor's appt. this afternoon. Many Blessings to all of you. Love and hugs, Pat

Tired to the bone!

Hi all my sweet blog friends. I have missed you all so much, but too tired right now to go blogging. I am in Crowley for a couple of days to rest and get away from things. We did great with the sale and made almost $1,700, but still have over half of things left and believe me, the prices were super cheap. I was a little disappointed with my sister because Al wanted Mom's gourds to paint Santa's, but would never give me a price for all of them. She said I should have reminded her that day, and needless to say, I was stuck inside and they sold over 70 of them for $2.00. Al is not happy, but he will get over it.
I finally found my camera, so tomorrow I will take a few pictures of some really great thrift finds. Some I left at my temporary home. I've got vintage lace and trims, a beautiful baby doll, a box of vintage wrapping paper still in the box from a jewelry store and lots of other neat things.
I will be packing some crafts to bring and work on, now that I have lots of free time. Al was going to hook me up with dial up, but the frig at Mom's burned up, so he bought me a new one. I lost a lot of food and that hurt a bit.

Brenda gave me my aunt's old mink coat that is falling apart and as much as I hate to use animal fur for things, I want to use pieces on journals for those who don't mind too much.

I will email my snail mail address to those who asked for it. I also found an empty bird nest in our orange tree, so it will soon be sent out to our bird lover. Not sure what bird nest it was, but it's too small for a Mockingbird. It does have horse hair in it, so I hope that she is not allergic to it. I have sprayed it with a natural insecticide, just in case some little critters are hiding in it.

One of our neighbors that I had not seen in over 30 years came to the sale and she still called me Patsy. It was almost like a big reunion, seeing people I had not seen in years.

Well I am off to check my emails, then get some groceries to bring back, so I will see you all tomorrow. Have a Blessed Evening. Love and hugs, Pat

Hello Everyone in Blogland

I had to come to Crowley for the night to get things I needed at home. The hard facts are now coming to life and it's very difficult letting go of our parents things. I took a crying spell yesterday morning. Me and my sil were talking about things and when she told me about the night Mom died, I cried. Even though they told us she was okay, I wanted to drive to Jennings right away, but Brenda wanted to wait until morning, so I never got to say goodbye to my Mom. I guess that is why I feel so at peace in our home we grew up in and it will be difficult to let it go to strangers.

I misplaced my camera, so I can't download some pictures I took of some great vintage treasures I have been finding.

I will most likely be having surgery as soon as the garage sale is over and this is one time, I am looking forward to having surgery. The pain is getting worse and nothing seems to help it. I didn't have enough pain free time to get everything ready for the sale and only had my sil once a week. Brenda has come down a few times to help and she really gets a lot done when she comes, but our younger sister is only coming in Wednesday to help. We need to do this to save the house because the estate money is used up and we still have insurance, property taxes, and a note for my brother to pay---the rest, I am paying to live in the house---rent and utilities. I was going to get Internet service, but I had to sign a 2 year contract and the house may be sold before that and I don't want to pay $20 a month to cancel it. It would be dial up, which I guess is better than nothing. I do miss coming here and also reading my Emails and after June 12Th, analogue will no longer exist. I got the converter box, but it's horrible, even with the new antenna. Al was willing to pay half of it to help me out, so I am going to try and talk to Direct TV and ask for a one year contract---all they can do is say No.

I visited a few blogs last night and I was so happy to see Deena's beautiful hair growing out and that wonderful smile she always had through her battle with breast cancer. She is truly an inspiration for women and I pray I have that kind of courage if I am faced with something like. Deena if you are reading this, I am so happy you liked the little nests and eggs. I have been walking around the yard looking for more. It seems the Mocking Birds are attacking the nests of other birds in the trees. Your post about them touched my heart and I thank you for that.

Nettie, as usual, you are making wonderful things and I am so ready to craft again. As soon as the boxes are gone from my old bedroom at our house, I am taking the rest of the wallpaper down and pull up the carpet and make me a craft room there. I won't take all my craft things, but will take some much needed things to do. I can earn a little extra money making things for Brenda's shop. I took a picture of the beautiful Bible cover that my aunt won at a Senior Citizen bingo and have all the things to make some.

Chris is still in Hawaii, but will be returning soon. She is so funny--she found a wedding ring that she liked, very vintage platinum from the 50s and she left business cards in her boyfriends socks and other places---not too suttle, I told her and he got a big kick out of it. So who knows what comes next, but I am praying they get married soon and start a family.

Well I have rambled on and have much to do before going home tonight and I do want to visit some more blogs today. Love and miss you all. I pray for all of you and hope that soon I can have Internet to visit more often, even if it takes me an hour to post. God Bless all of you and take care until I return again. I am thinking of spending a week here after the garage sale and getting some things done. My bathroom looks like a storage closet and now I can't get in to get my tent for the garage sale, so Al will have a lot to move to get to it. See you soon. Love and Hugs, Pat

Great News for a Change

Have you ever sat in a doctor's office for 3 hours before? I have Never done that, so this was a shock for me, but he takes his time with you and doesn't rush you out of there. They did a hemoglobin 90 day average and I was so excited when he came in the examining room and told me my average was 112. But do I miss cookies, cakes, and candy, not to mention regular pasta, rice, and baked potoates, but not enough to have to go on insulin pills. Also found out that I have to call my surgeon to see if he is going to fix the hernia they found with the CT scan. I've had so many incisional hernias since I got the staph infection that I knew it was there---your body knows these things. Also, the doctor fussed at me for not coming in last week when I had some sort of flu, because now it's too late for a swab, but there is still some congestion he said. They made me put a mask on in the office just in case. I didn't go any where near crowds, so I doubt that it was the swine flu. I was supposed to go and have more blood work done this morning, but forgot and drank some coffee, so I will get my sil to bring me.

It was too late to go back last night, so I stayed another night. Al left me the car and he will have a friend from work drop him off in the country to pick it up.

As soon as the estate sale is finished, we are going to start painting and freshening up the house to sell it. I have already started pulling wallpaper off the walls in my former bedroom and the walls are beautiful behind it and the wood floors are still in great shape, so we are taking the carpet out also. I'm still dreaming of staying there, but if the house is sold, I will have to look for a small apt. here in Crowley. Things are not all that great and I made a horrible mistake turning onto on coming traffic and Al yelled at me and continued even after I said I was sorry. I asked him to please stop yelling, but he continued and that is one of the reason I have moved to the country, no further explainatioin needed.

I am bringing some things to craft at night to relax before going to sleep. I used my Micheal's card my daughter sent me and got another corner shelf for my cubes and 2 shelves because they were 40% off, so I almost doubled my gift card. Next week, I am going to come and get my Cuddlebug and cardstock and paper to work on some cards and a few other things I want to try.

I found some really great thrift items and one was an antique dressing table for $3.99. My daughter, Chris sent me some vintage things and one is a small square tablecloth with girls embroidered in each corner and a pillow case. She also found some Easter centerpieces from Hallmark from the 80s with the honeycomb bases. I will try and remember to take pictures for my next trip here. The dresser needs some work, but nothing that will hurt me.

I was planning on making my bedroom white and pink, but most of the things I have found are antique white, not to mention the curtains and dust ruffle my mom made for my bed, so I will go with that. Do you think a touch of white would still be okay?????????????

Well I guess I should get dressed and start packing the car to head back to Jennings. I hope you all have a great week. Blessings and prayers for all of you. Love and hugs, Pat

Very short visit

Hi everyone in blogland. I do miss all of you and wish I had more time to come and visit all of you. I will be leaving shortly for a doctor visit, then going back to the country.
Mother's Day was a little sad with mom gone and my children so far away, but I managed.
Things are busy in my life and we have the estate sale in 2 weeks, but have already sold over $400 worth of things, but it did not put a dent into what's left.

Well I must get dressed so I can give blood for a test again. Hope to visit you all sooner this time. Wishing you all many blessings. Love and Hugs, Pat
