Remember our Fallen Heroes

Please remember those who died for our freedom and those who are still fighting. I would also like everyone to remember the forgotten part of the military and that is the wives and husbands of those fighting for us. They are the unsung heroes who keep things going while their spouses are off fighting.
I lost my first love to a war and today always bring heartache-it never goes away. He served our country and died a hero saving his platoon from further killings, but was never given the bronze star. Had he not been picking up claymores, he might still be alive today, because the sniper that shot him was killed by his platton and the gunfire set the platoon on their feet and saved them from being shot. His father received the bronze star for saving his platoon, being a captain in the US Army during WW11 and he has gone to meet his maker. May all our soldiers that died for our freedom rest in peace and Prayers for those that are fighting a war to keep terrorist out of our country. Many Blessings today to all the families of lost ones and for those fighting and their families. Amen.

Part of my doll collection

Just wanted to share some of my dolls that I have collected over the years. I already gave my granddaughter 10 of them and she has them neatly on a shelf that was made from parts of an old sofa. Will have to take pictures next time I go visit. My mom gave her a set of twins, a boy and girl and they are adorable, but my brother wanted me to bring them back after our mom died. I was not going to be the one who told my granddaughter she had to give the dolls back---for whatever reason because the dolls were given to us girls by my dad. They told her and she said okay, like the sweet angel she is, but we put a stop to it. You don't do that to a child of 6 years old.
I have others put away and will put two of the babies in the antique crib I found. Was going to paint it white, but I think that would ruin the value. I just haven't decided yet.

If you are wondering about the urn in the foreground, that is my cat Max. Since we had planned on moving into this house, Al had him cremated because I didn't want to leave him behind. I had Max for over 18 years and he was a part of our family. Please don't call the white coats, I am not the only person who does this.

Wishing you all a Safe Memorial Day. Love and Hugs, Pat

Happy Pink Saturday to all who do it.

Although I don't belong to Pink Saturday, I thought I would share all the cute baby clothes I have been collecting for my daughter. No, she isn't pregnant, but if she can't have a child of her own (she's 39) they will adopt. She knows I am doing this and if it turns out she doesn't have a girl, then some lucky, needy family will get these for their baby girl.

I also found this at a thrift store and it's a very unusal lamp. I think it needs a hurricane glass globe on the top, but will have to see how it looks..It just struck my eye and I had to have it for $2.99. All in all, these little outfits cost $2.99, plus I got points for buying all of them and I am close to getting $10 off my next purchase. I also have one of her baby dresses and booties and some of my little crocheted baby things that will go great with the little yellow dress as it looks just like the one my baby picture was taken in. Hope you have a great day.

Sweet little Hummingbird

This is one of our regular nesters that nest each year in the Magnolia tree at my dads. Al and I both took these pictures. The first 3 he took and the last 2 I took. We could sit for hours and watch the 4 of them fight and I have 2 feeders, but they seem to like this one. People keep thinking that you must have red food for them, but that is far from the truth. All I do is make sugar water and they come. I wish we had a good pair of binoculars so we could find their nest. One fell a couple of years ago and I sent it to our Sweet Deena who collect bird nests. Well, it's mostly mockingbirds and blue Martins and their nest fall apart when you try to get to them, not to mention if you try to take one while they are nesting, they will attack you. Dads Blue Martin houses are filled  with nests this year and he would be excited to see them. We also have lots of Cardinals and Finch that visit, but there is so much for them to eat, that I don't have to have feeders for them. The grape vines and fig trees are plenty for them to eat. I tried putting peanut butter on a pine cone, but nothing came near it and there is no cat around here. Hope you enjoy seeing the pictures. Love and hugs, and have a great weekend.

Thrift finds and candy bouquet

I tried posting my thrift finds for my blog store, but the post disapearred, so I am trying again. These are cute vintage scarves that I found .

For those that collect vintage ladies things, these 100% nylons are really cool with the seam on the back. There are 3 pairs in excellent unworn condition in each box. Don't you love the name on the box.

This is a lady head vase, but not sure how old it is. I do have 3 others that are old and one that is new and it's a Red Hat Lady head.

These are for me. They are called Switch Flops and you can change them into 6 different looking flip flops. I can even make more because it's just velcro, so I see some bling in the future.

These are some little guardian angels that go in your car on your mirror. I hope to add them to my shop.

This is one of the crafts that I love to do. I do a lot of paper piercing with beads added. You have seen my cards and this one has just begun to have the beads added. Will show the finished product at a later date

. I have been working all day on candy bouquets and little gifts for the June 13th Cancer Aid bingo that is held at the VFW. I always give and make as much as I can because it's for a good cause and I love doing it. I have 4 other bouquets in the works, but not ready to show.
This is my all time favorite bouquet that I have made. I sell the big ones for $30 and have no problems, but have a harder time with the small ones---go figure. Hope it brightens your day. Now I am hungry for watermelons, but have to settle for cantelope.Have a great Sunday. I am waiting for Lost to come on. Hugs, Pat

My long post gone.

Well I thought I had a good post for today, but it disapeared into thin air. Will check my drafts and see if it saved it. Anyway, I'll try later, because it's hot right now and I'm going stand in front of the air conditioner to cool off. Have a great weekend. Love and Hugs, Pat

My thrifty DVD cabinet and other things

This is the little DVD cabinet that I purchased at Goodwil and took it all apart and the bottom photo is the result of my hard work.

Below is an old window that I used Gallery glass on to make a faux stained glass window that will be hung in my bedroom window. The pane on the right is what they all look like---painted walls make it look messy.

I also did 8 picture frames that Al is going to build a cabinet to fit them. They will be attached as 2 doors with 4 panes on each side.

The next 2 pictures are of a framed doily I did about 20 years ago and wanted to update it for my bedroom. Got rid of most of the green things in my house and going with pink for my bedroom and brown tones in my living room. The doily is at least 40 years old. My friend's mother had it on a coffee table and he gave it to me. He is deceased now, but I don't want to get rid of it.

I hope you enjoyed seeing all the things I have been working on. I am having fun and it's keeping my busy and forgetting about my pain sometimes. This all started as therapy, but I have a hard time staying focused when I work. Have a great day, I'm going find some things to work on. Love and hugs, Pat

My Sweet Grandchildren

I just had to show off my grandchildren to all of you. They have grown so much. The first is Theresa who is 9 and growing in leaps and bounds. We wear the same size shoe, so she is trying to raid my shoe closet. She was born the year I had my first surgery and I had surgery 2 weeks again before she was born, so I never really got to hold and cuddle her except in my lap, but we still bonded and we are very close. She loves to do crafts with me and she learns fast.
This is my first born grandson and I am 5'1", so you can just imagine how tall he is for a 13 year old. He will be 14 in August on the 14th and is going to his first dance next week. They are having an 8th grade graduation dance and the little girl is actually being driven 150 to meet him again for the dance.

These are my 3 generations. Al, Jonathan, and Jacob. It won't be long before he will be as tall as Al if not taller. The doctors think he will be over 6 ft, but he is more interested in music than sports and that's fine with me.
Here is my little man all dressed up for his Band Concert. He is going to break some hearts for sure. The doctors don't want to remove the mole from his face until he has finished growing, but he wants it off now, but since it's not up to me, I keep my mouth shut.
Here is the smile we all love. His teeth have come in straight except for one, but they are leaving it alone for now in hopes that it will fall into place, but he does have beautiful teeth and a beautiful smile. I guess you can tell I am very proud of these 2  and of all my children. I am just happy that I finally got some redheads in my family. My oldest son has a touch of red, but not much. Will post new pictures of them later. These gifts from God is what keeps me going and not giving up on life.  Have a great weekend. Love and Hugs, Pat

Neurosurgeon

My doctor is setting up a referral to a neurosurgeon, but I am hoping to see the plastic surgeon first. My back is in horrible pain today, but some of it is due to the stress. My sisters came here when I wasn't here, but called me at the doctor's office to let me know that they are moving my parnoid, wife abuser and possibly child molester brother in here. I am going to do all I can to stop that even if it means bringing up the past when he did what he did to me, then knocked me down from behind with my 6 week old baby in my arms. Mom and dad should have gotten him help a long time ago. He has beaten every woman he was married to ---5 in all and I am deathly afraid of him. They told me to stop calling or contact them, yet they can't seem to stop and keep upsetting me. It's at the point where I am ready just to give up. I have never been a fighter so I don't know how to go about doing this.

Anyway, I'll probably be having my surgery this summer and I will let everyone know. If you don't see me here for a few days, it's because I am resting or at least trying to  and I have some heavy praying to do. I know God is listening, but I need help more than ever. It's not easy praying for myself  because it's always prayers for others, so this is new to me. Love and hugs, Pat

Spring Concert

Last night was one of the proudest moments I've had in a long time. My grandson Jacob belongs to the Concert Band and they had a Spring Concert at the University. He plays percussion, so he switches instruments often. Here he is before we left and he does that old Jochum pose with his head tilted back. He is getting so handsome and it just seems like yesterday, he graced this world. I spoiled him, but now he is too old for granny, but he still kisses and hugs me tight. He is going to be graduating from 8Th into High School. Where has the time gone! I have a picture of him standing about 6 inches taller than me( easy to do with a 5'1") but the doctor said he has just begun to grow  and has not come close to what he may be--6ft or taller. He doesn't want to play basketball, but he so enjoys music, so who knows where that will lead.

It was wonderful listening to grades 6 to 8 and they played some awesome music and each group had compiled their own music for one of the tunes. To top off the evening, a group that just got together after school played Jazz and each got to be spotlighted and it was incredible. I'm so proud of Jacob. He and his sister both attend and Arts and Technology school for gifted and talented children. Theresa came in second for Reading in her class and we are proud of her also. She also likes music and she will probably take band when she reaches the 6th grade. She will probably attend Paul Breaux also, because with this school, you don't have to live in the District to attend. You just have to pass an excel test that is done at the University and they both tested high. My son, their father, made a 28 on his ACT exam and then played around and got kicked out of college, never to return. My only child who has not finished college, what a bummer, but we are proud of him just the same. We won't know anything about his infection (prostate) until next week, so I have one more week to worry my little head off. Please keep him in your prayers. He is the child we almost lost twice during my pregnancy and again at birth. He weighed 4lbs 7ozs and was only 17 inches long, but now is very close to 6ft. Thank you in advance for prayers. I just don't want anything to happen to my children. They have all turned out to be great adults and I never had to worry about drugs with them. Thank You Jesus!
Well it's my turn today to see my doctor, so I need to jump in the shower and get ready. Have a great day. Love and hugs,Pat

Happy Mothers Day

                     Happy Mothers Day
I hope you all have a wonderful Mothers Day. Mine started off really worrying about my son because they are checking him for prostrate problems and it has his wife worried and since she is a nurse and has read all his test results, they now have me worried also. This is my baby son who will be 36, but nearly died at birth. He is on his second round of antibiotics and has been really sick for over 2 weeks and Al just told me last night because Jonathan didn't want to worry me. Worrying is part of a Mothers duty that never ends, but instead of worrying, I will be praying that it's not cancer. My children have never given us any problems to worry about and they've all got great jobs and homes, but as moms, that's what we do, we never stop worrying about them.
So relax and enjoy our day and let the children or sweet hubby do your cooking, better yet, take you out to eat. Please keep my son in your prayers. Love and Hugs, Pat

More Thrift finds that were packed away

Well before I could finish Blog posted my post without me even being in the room. I walked out while a picture was downloading and I came back and it said my  post was posted, View Blog. Wierd! So here are the rest of the photos.
This is a picture that my sister gave back to me because well I don't know why, but it hurt. Such a childish thing to do, in my opinion.

Things I will be selling

Most of the silver ware is from Rogers and Rogers and Oneida and American silver company. I didn't want to clean them up because a lot of people like the old vintage look and these are old, I have already looked them up at Barnes and Noble.
This is the DVD cabinet I am working on and hope to have it finished soon, so I can put my DVDs away. I have it primed already, so just need to paint.

Going to take a few days off this weekend to work on some frames and the cabinet. The frames are some I did with gallery glass a very long time ago, so I am redoing them for my kitchen window. Al is going to join 4 together and if they don't fit in the window, he is going to put all 8 together and build a cabinet and use them as the door. He's is starting to dig up plants where my new walk in closet is going and that has to be done before he can start on the shop--I have to have a place to store the things that are in my small shop. The closet will actually be 2 parts, one half for a closet and the other half for a sitting area so I can watch the humming birds and other little creatures that stop for a drink of water. It will be a total of 20 X8 and he has the money saved to do the entire shell. I can't wait, because now my garden will look different also. That's the one thing I miss the most and going to beg my doctor and see if I can sit and plant things.
I hope you all have a wonderful Mother's Day. Myself, I can't wait for it to be over with. It's very hard without my children here and my mom gone, so nothing special is planned. My youngest son and family will probably go to his mils, yes I come second, but I love my dil, so I see her a little more often than her mom. Love and hugs to all of you.
